Floor Cleaning & Maintenance

Once your UCoat It floor cures you will have a floor that durable, easy to clean and chemical resistant. UCoat It floors can be swept, mopped, or squeegeed clean.

What should I use to clean my floor?

When cleaning your floor we recommend using a mild, non-abrasive cleaner diluted with water applied with a mop and bucket or squeegee. UClean® all purpose cleaner and degreaser is preferred for all UCoat It finishes and is designed to emulsify all oil-based soils on the surface. Always check any cleaner by testing in an inconspicuous area before applying to ensure the cleaner will not affect your UCoat It finish. We do not recommend cleaning with solvents, chemicals, or a power washer.

How do I fix scratches or gouges?

Impact damage and scratches sometimes happen (especially in commercial areas). However, your UCoat It finish is easily repaired. Damage should remain confined to the actual impact area and is prepared by sanding, tack-rag and recoat of the UCoat It material(s) used in your original finish. If you have no remaining material to be used for the repair, UCoat It Touch-Up kits are available. Call 1-800-UCoat-It to speak with a UCoat It Service Representative for more information.

Can I recoat my floor in the future?

You can recoat your UCoat It floor coating at virtually any time you desire. Generally, a recoat involves applying a single coat of your top-most UCoat It material (UCoat, UGloss-AF, etc). To prepare the surface for a mechanical bond, you will need to clean and degrease the current finish. Scuff sand the area with a 60-80 grit screen (pole sander). Tack-rag and then recoat. During the initial coating process, your coats were applied within 36 hours of each other to ensure a chemical bond between the material, therefore surface prep between coats was not necessary. After application, allow your floor to cure according to the curing schedule found in your material instructions before introducing foot traffic or vehicles.
