UCoat® Epoxy Floor Coating System
All UCoat It floor coating finishes begin with application of UCoat water-based epoxy. UCoat can be used as a standalone finish or as a bonding base for one of our urethane top coat systems.
What is UCoat?
UCoat is not a paint that will flake or peel — it is a commercial grade, water based, two-coat epoxy coating system. Being water based, there is virtually no odor. Being industrial quality, it is just as durable, or more so, than most solvent based epoxies. UCoat is also moisture insensitive — there is no drying time needed after cleaning and preparing the concrete floor. UCoat is applied directly to a wet-damp surface to achieve permanent adhesion.
What are the benefits of a UCoat floor coating?
UCoat is resistant to damage from chemicals, abrasions, and impacts. It stands up to moisture, welding spatter, jack stands, and with the application of UTex™, the anti-slip additive included in every kit, UCoat is safe to walk on even when the floor is wet. Best of all, UCoat is a do-it yourself system allowing the average home or business owner the ability to apply a true, commercial-grade floor coating for a fraction of the cost of professional installation.
How do you apply UCoat?
UCoat is applied with roller and brush in two coats: the Bond Coat and the Finish Coat. UCoat is applied directly to a wet-damp surface to allow UCoat to flow and penetrate the porous concrete or wood floor and permanently bond to the substrate. The UCoat Bond Coat will take approximately 4-6 hrs (at 68°F) to become tack-free. Your new UCoat floor will be ready for foot traffic in as little as 12 hours.
What will I need to apply my UCoat It floor coating system?
Most of the basic materials and tools for application will be provided with your UCoat Kit. Each application is unique, however, for most cement floor applications you will need the following in addition to your UCoat Kit:
- a stiff-bristled, push broom
- a quality detergent/degreaser (USolv)
- one gallon of muriatic acid (for every 600 sq.ft.)
- a standard threaded handle/broom stick
- garden hose with sprayer and access to water
- quality painter's tape (for trim work — optional)
How is UCoat supplied?
Complete do-it yourself kits start at $249.95 for up to a 24’ x 24’ area (576 sq.ft.) or a typical 2½ car garage of smooth concrete*. Material-only extender packs are available for larger areas.

Requires urethane topcoat for UV |
¹ In high traffic areas, adding one of our (-AF) urethane topcoat systems will increase product durability and long-term maintenance. |
² UCoat epoxy is used as a base on these areas, however a topcoat using one of our (-AF) urethane topcoat systems is recommended for added chemical and UV resistance. |

*Cost estimates are based on a typical application over a 24'x24' (576 sq.ft.) area of smooth concrete. Actual coverage rates will vary based on color choice, surface porosity, and application technique. White or Beige floors may require more material as will porous or freshly ground cement.
